The Waimea Preservation Association (WPA)

Previously called Waimea Main Street, the WPA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  As of 2005 is it largely dormant, but serves as the parent organization of the WTG.
The WPA has received funding through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, an umbrella organization for hundreds of Hawai‘i charities, including a $10,000 Community-Based Economic Development (CBED) grant in 2001 for the purchase of a "signature" tree for the Waimea Visitor Center.  In 2003, WPA was awarded a $15,000 grant for restoration of the Historic Lindsey House.
As of August 2005, WPA is reportedly down to a staff of three people, just enough to keep the organization in existence.

• Waimea Outdoor Circle (WOC) has the mission to make Waimea “clean, green and beautiful” which definitely overlaps with our mission to make a beautiful green Trail!  WOC is wonderfully supportive of our process of connecting the Trail to and through their Nature Park.
• PATH (Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai`i) is a Big Island organization promoting traffic safety education and improving conditions on roadways and trails for recreation, fitness, and alternative modes of transportation.
