October 14, 2005 - 25 Parker School students pitch in to work on the trail for Make a Difference Day!

The Trails and Greenways supervisors: Avi, Cindy, Mark and Ben:

The students and and two Parker faculty arrive and get an explanation of the trail, a brief history and why it's important.  Only a few students had heard of the trail, but that was about to change!

One student was so smart and well-prepared that he brought his own shovel!

We split into three teams.  Team A tackled the south end of the trail section F, through some ironwood rambles and cane grass:

Team B worked the area around the Nature Park entrance:

Team C cleared debris and fallen tree from the north end of section G, at the border between the Nature Park, Canada France, and Carter Professional Center:

After two hours, we re-grouped.  Maps of the whole trail were discussed.  Flyers were passed out with information and URLs for the students to follow up to learn more about the Waimea Trail, and to take home to share with friends and families:

Thanks to everyone who showed up and made the day a success!

Thanks also to Deb Pun Discoe who helped out and took most of the pictures.
